The lithium-ion batteries are now more common in laptops and other items, although the major automotive manufacturers in the world work in the use of these batteries for their cars.
Nissan's joint venture, called Automotive Energy Supply Corp., plans to make lithium-ion batteries for electric and hybrid vehicles with all the technology to reduce pollution, like the gases that cause global warming.
A plant for manufacturing batteries, which will start producing since 2009, will have a production capacity of 65,000 units and will begin with 13,000 units.
The first commercial products for New forklift batteries would be for 2009, while electric vehicles for markets in U.S. and Japan will continue in 2010.
