RSE - Law comes into force Sustainable Economy

The Law of Sustainable Economy with which the Government intends to modernize the English economy and accelerate the shift of the production model of the country has entered into force on 6 March, a day after its publication in the Official Gazette.

The text, which has 114 articles, 15 additions, 10 interim and 60 final provisions was finally approved by the House of Congress on 15 February, almost a year after he first came to the House.

The text provides in Articles 35 and 39 aspects of CSR in state and public entities in the private sector, respectively.



Article 35 Article 35 requires public companies to submit annual reports on corporate governance and sustainability reporting in accordance with commonly accepted standards, with particular emphasis on effective equality between women and men and full integration of persons with disabilities. It also urges them to review their production of goods and services based on principles of environmental management and encourage the adoption of CSR principles and practices of their suppliers, among other measures.



Article 39 Article 39 Liability promotion Corporate Social tackles the government's commitment to CSR in order to encourage businesses, organizations and public or private institutions, especially SMEs, to incorporate or develop policies on Social Responsibility.

For this, the article talks about the provision of "a set of characteristics and indicators for self-evaluation on social responsibility and reporting models or references, all in accordance with international standards in this area."

The article also specifies that corporations may make public its policies on an annual basis and results on Corporate Social Responsibility through a separate report which shall state whether or not it has been verified by a third party.
